"Little"
Two Soft brown horses with blonde manes wait
Their heads bowed gently down in humility
They will carry your winter sled
Across the snowbank and into the night
Where the snowflakes fall in silent loss
And melt on the cheek of the baby
All quiet your eyes are firmly shut tight
You are praying to have no harm come to you
The horses shuffle and trot ahead
With jingle bells on their bridles
The snowbanks gasp a little breath
When the horses plunge through them
And the abandoned snow scatters around
And you're holding onto the reins
Oh baby in a cradle, May you be safe
In the way that Baby Moses Was
When he lay in the river reed basket
The Nile carried him on his way
Oh Lord protect my little Child
He trusts in you completely
The night is winter and it stretches on
Like a grand carnival adventure
When He is weary the horses stop
And take him to his tavern
The world is laying at his feet
He is so very little
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
