I hope you break free and yet keep your home
I hope you have both things
Shoes on your feet and a warm jacket
I hope you have lots of little friends
As for me, I will be your mother
For I will love you unconditionally
I am beginning to be proud of you
My heart fills with joy for your success
May there always be something green growing
Near the chamber where you come to stay
May it grow through dark and light
And through war and through peace
May there always be something warm
To warm yourself against
May there always be someone to hold you
So you never feel alone
And little dolls to smile back at you
So you always feel loved
He Came to teach us love and kindness
To lead us to the truth
The truth is to do good things
Good things in this life
I wish I had all the gifts of heaven
I'd lavish them on you daily
Just a few little gifts will have to do
Just a few gifts to make you happy
I love you with a love that's true
And I am not sorry
Though I beat down the fortress walls
I'll tell you that I love you
Oh just to see you smile my way
That is all that I ask
But I know there are so many other people
Who need help as badly as you
I cannot help them all but pray
That God could hear this prayer
Give little burrows to the poor
Oh Lord find everyone a shelter
Don't cast a cold look on the ones cast out
I wish I had an empty motel
I'd fill it up with hungry people
And there would be music and feasting
I'm glad to be a child in this world
Because this world is too cruel for me
I just don't understand the rules
I'm grateful to be free
