"Trapped"
The cathedrals were shaken from their boarded interiors
The chandeliers shook and the dust fell all around
The foundations shuddered and I prayed to God
While people were fighting in the streets for bread
On and on it went, day after day and into the night
The wars were fought with our bodies as casualties
There was suffering on and on like the crashing waves
And sleep was sweet with all our dreams
You'd wake up each day and realize you had to go on
But more and more I've wanted to rest
Oh wars fought with weary minds
And now I lay here heaped upon these stones
Wondering where we go from here
I have prayed with the fullness of my being already
And I have praised God in al the ways I could
But nothing, it seems, can stop this destruction
Nothing I do can save us now
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
